Here at TFB Magazine, we are continuously drawn to artists who share their deepest truths through their craft. When 23-year-old poet Jada D’Antignac—better known by her pen name "nooneswatching"—reached out to us, it was clear she was a perfect fit for our community of creatives. Jada’s work encapsulates vulnerability and raw emotion, written with a lyrical flow inspired by her love for music.
Hailing from Augusta, Georgia, Jada has already self-published three collections of poetry: coming soon., stepping towards the mirror, and her latest release, a pen will guide us home. Each collection explores themes like mental health, self-acceptance, and relationships, offering readers a glimpse into her personal growth and reflections. Her poetry invites readers to feel seen and understood, something she strives for in every line she writes.
As we work on our second print issue, we couldn't wait to introduce Jada’s inspiring voice to our readers. We’re thrilled to showcase two pieces from her latest collection, a pen will guide us home. These poems, “Anxiety Disorders” and “Blue Hearts,” delve into the
complexities of emotional struggle and unexpected moments of connection.
Anxiety Disorders
tell me,
should we not panic just because the sun is shining?
should we not count our steps and worry when we miss a beat?
should we not get up again to make sure the door is locked so that we can finally sleep?should we listen to the others and not take our own advice?
should we just stop thinking twice?
and any more than that?
should we just learn to train our minds to hold still?
should we lay in the grass and daydream forever?
should we make friends with that inside voice and tell them it’ll get better?
should we mask it on the outside and keep it all in?
should we hold God’s hand and give it all to him?
tell me,
how should we go about this life?
This poem captures the suffocating and cyclical nature of anxiety, reflecting a raw internal dialogue many of us experience. With an honest and questioning tone, Jada expresses the struggle of navigating daily life while grappling with persistent worries.
Blue Hearts
the air was cool
the stars were bright
my mind kept wandering
but i regained focus and enjoyed the night
you seemed to play the right songs
and you knew exactly what to say
I begged time to not fly by
this wasn’t a night i wanted to waste
unexpected and unplanned
we always find our way
i’m content with never needing more
i’m okay if you don’t stay
we never force the moment
it just naturally comes
too late to start
too early to be done
a peculiar feeling
it may be my favorite
there’s only one of this
no other could replace it
In “Blue Hearts,” Jada paints a tender picture of an unhurried connection—one that’s fleeting yet cherished. Her graceful wording captures the beauty of moments that don’t need permanence to be meaningful.
